Rajinder Rana, one of 6 expelled MLAs, explains why they rebelled in Himachal

In an effort to preserve the honour of the state, the rebel Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh have chosen to back the BJP candidate after feeling that their concerns were disregarded by the party.

One of the six Congress MLAs from Himachal Pradesh who has been deemed ineligible, Rajinder Rana, stated on Thursday in Chandigarh that the choice to run a “outsider” for the Rajya Sabha instead of a skilled and intelligent member of the state’s legislature was the ultimate cause of the revolt against the party.

We complained to the Congress headquarters, but Sukhjinder Singh Sukhhu’s humiliation was endured in silence. But it was an intolerable insult that the Congress chose to field an outsider from Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. “We voted for the BJP candidate to uphold the dignity and pride of Himachal and its people,” 57-year-old Rana stated over the phone while staying in a Chandigarh hotel with six other expelled MLAs.

For what length of time are you going to stand by and let those individuals ruin the state’s pride in its mountains? Was there not a single Himachal Pradesh Congress leader deserving of a seat in the Rajya Sabha?

The 15-month-old Congress government in the mountainous state is in doubt after six Congress MLAs cast dissenting votes. After BJP candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi defeated Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, uncertainty still hangs over the Congress government in the mountainous state.

Rana, a well-known rebel against the dry administration, is a three-time politician from the Sujanpur Assembly constituency in the Hamirpur district. He received his diploma from Chandigarh’s Punjab University Evening College in 1986. Running as a Congress candidate, Rana upset two-time Chief Minister and BJP veteran Prem Kumar Dhumal in the 2017 Assembly elections.

As per his statement, the issue was becoming worse and Congress lawmakers and party employees were complaining and getting upset because of the “CM’s working style.”

“At that meeting, I proposed stepping in to address the problems and altering the strategy, which is impractical and lacks the compassion to bring people together. We (now ousted lawmakers) made it plain that we do not wish to become CM. We wanted our regions to be respected and developed,” Rana remarked, outlining the rationale for the legislators’ unhappiness, which Rahul Gandhi had brought up at the meeting.

Rana said at a meeting that Sukhoo was making the majority of lawmakers feel defeated and ashamed. He implored the party hierarchy to act immediately before things get worse. Alakman calmly listened to their worries but did nothing about it.

Rana also brought up the fact that the Congress government’s empty coffers make it difficult for it to carry out the electoral pledges it made.

We voted for BJP candidates because we were determined to overthrow the existing government’s deception and arrogance. This was a source of pride for the state of Himachal Pradesh. Preserving the honour and dignity of the Himachal Pradeshi people was at stake.
